About
Larissa Johnston Architects is a London-based architectural studio delivering intelligent, pragmatic, original and aspirational design solutions for buildings and projects.
Our work is derived from a cohesive manipulation of space, light and the sensual quality of materials to produce spaces which are a joy to inhabit.
Quality is at the heart of everything we produce. This is achieved through an intensely rigorous design process alongside an open, exploratory and collaborative dialogue with our clients and project teams.
The focus of the practice is on residential, educational and public projects.

Larissa Johnston
Director, Architect ARB RIBA
Larissa Johnston Architects was founded in 2015 by Larissa Johnston. She brings to the practice 20 years of experience working for leading architectural practices in London and Australia, on a number of multi-award-winning projects.
At Stanton Williams, Larissa was the Project Architect responsible for the delivery of the new King’s Cross Square and the Hackney Marshes Centre. At Feilden Clegg Bradley she worked on a number of school’s projects including St Mary Magdalene Academy. In Sydney Larissa worked with eminent Australian architect Richard Leplastrier, on the design and delivery of one of his iconic finely-crafted timber homes.
Larissa has a keen interest in the craft of making beautiful things, an eye for impeccable detail, and a love of natural materials. She has worked on a number of self-build projects, particularly involving detailed timber joinery, and this experience has informed her practice of architecture.
Alongside her work in practice Larissa is Technical Design Tutor and Guest Critic at University of Greenwich. She has also participated in a number of architectural education programmes including RIBA student mentoring at Central Saint Martins, and Open City’s Architecture in Schools programmes.
Larissa studied at University of Sydney prior to being awarded a scholarship to complete her studies at the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow.
Process
We believe that effective collaboration is of fundamental importance to the design and procurement of excellent architecture.
We work closely with clients and users to develop comprehensive briefs and extract the key aims of projects, both practical and aspirational. We have built good working relationships with an extensive network of specialist consultants, suppliers and contractors who we draw on to meet the specific needs of projects. We collaborate throughout the design and building process to ensure that cohesive, appropriate and unique solutions are achieved.
We understand that most projects have challenging programmatic and budgetary constraints and we have extensive experience of delivering successful and exemplary buildings from within these.
We can provide full or partial Architectural Services across all stages of projects from feasibility and concept, through design, delivery and completion on site. Our projects include new build, alteration and extension, and refurbishment. Services we provide include:-
