Priory Green Apartment

Larissa Johnston Architects designed and completed this interior refurbishment of an apartment within Priory Green, a modernist Housing Estate which was designed by esteemed architect Berthold Lubetkin in the 1950’s.

The design seeks to retain the character of the existing interior but to upgrade and improve to suit modern living. It is conceived to create a tranquil haven within this densely urban location of King’s Cross, London.

Internal partition walls have been removed to create a primary open plan space for kitchen, dining and living. Inbuilt storage has been carefully integrated into each of the rooms to allow for uncluttered living within this relatively small space.

A restrained palette of materials has been deployed again to provide an uncluttered feel and a calm space. Ceilings and walls are white, complemented by the use of natural oak parquet flooring and ply joinery, alongside stainless steel fittings. The combination of pale materials and mirrors reflect and maximise light throughout the apartment.
