Blackheath Span House
This project comprises works to an existing mid-century Span House located in The Plantation estate in Blackheath, and originally designed by Eric Lyons in 1962.
Works are underway on the external building fabric, which has been in a poor state of repair. It is to be substantially repaired and upgraded resulting in significant improvements to the thermal performance of the building.
Internal works are designed to be sensitive to the original span concepts with subtle changes to the layout to address the requirements of modern living. These include the careful integration of highly efficient storage solutions and the inclusion of an additional ensuite bathroom to the upper floor.
Where appropriate original materials such as parquet flooring are retained but refinished. Where new materials are introduced these are carefully selected to be in keeping with the spirit of the original span designs.
The garden is also redesigned in particular to improve the seamless flow between internal and external space.
